Manager

front of house manager - coffee and bar

Hello Kitsilano community!

We are seeking a Front of House Manager, (coffee and bar).

Do you like making drinks, talking to regulars, and managing a great team in a cool vibe—then we want to meet you!

We are seeking someone with specialty coffee AND bar experience to run our front of house program and team. We operate as a café daily but are expanding in the Spring to begin evening afternoon/bar service and even more community events.

We need someone with strong hospitality operations experience in a high-volume specialty café, restaurant and bar. As coffee is in our name and we take what we serve serious (but not precious), you need to know coffee and be excited to continue stewarding our program. And you need to have experience as a bartender and/or bar manager to oversee the development and growth of this service area.

This role is full-time salary and tips position mainly focuses on operations. You must have at least 5 years’ experience in a hospitality leadership role. This is an exciting opportunity for someone that is looking to build with us.

We have a strong team of mostly senior baristas that you’ll be leading and hiring/training new people to join. As well as assembling a team of bartenders and servers. You will oversee the entire front of house program working closely with the BOH Manager and owners.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of front of house staff, providing guidance and support.

  • Train new employees on company policies, procedures, and customer service standards

  • Conduct interviews and make hiring decisions for front of house positions

  • Monitor inventory levels and place orders for supplies as needed

  • Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure smooth communication and efficient service

  • Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional and timely manner

  • Maintain a clean and organized facility inside and out

  • Product quality control, development, and team training

  • Working service hours and administrative management hours

  • Scheduling and shift coverage

  • Working private events in evenings/weekends

  • Managing internal communications for staff to maintain a level of knowledge and service quality

Candidates MUST possess ALL of these attributes:

  • Be flexible to work weekdays and weekends between 7am-11pm and cover shifts

  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Set a tone for the facility and hold yourself and others to it daily

  • Have AT LEAST up to 5 year of experience in café/bar management

  • Adaptability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new things and be exposed to all aspects of the shop and business

  • Be very fast and efficient while maintaining accuracy

  • Be mature and confident

  • Demonstrated commitment to creating exceptional employee and customer experience

  • Have high problem-solving skills

  • Clean and orderly

  • Have a valid BC driver’s license and preferably a vehicle

PT Barista

part-time barista

We are looking for a part-time (approx 15-25 hours per week) experienced barista to join our awesome team.

You MUST have previous barista experience working in a specialty fast-paced coffee shop.

Beyond making awesome coffee, we are looking for people who are outgoing, friendly and knowledgeable about Kits, Vancouver and community engagement.

PT Baker

part-time baker/food service

We are looking for a part-time baker for primarily weekends, holiday's and Monday, with the occasional other day covering shifts.

You MUST have at least 3 years of previous baking experience in a cafe-type setting, and be able to work solo.

You will be baking off and food prepping our assortment of baked good items and food service menu.

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a bakery AND food preparation role

  • Creative and self-motivated

  • Passion for seasonal, ingredient-driven food

  • Has strong principles in regard to proper cooking techniques, and an eye for detail

  • Keen understanding of kitchen operations and workflow
